Ukraine Invasion, Week 2 + more — on this edition of the discursus Protest Analytics newsletter, March 8, 2022
Welcome to the 3rd edition of the discursus Protest Analytics newsletter.
There’s no way around it, we are still covering the protest events that surrounds Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Where last week we saw spontaneous mobilisations in Russia, Belarus and other countries, we see this week that protests in Russia are being met with increased repression by the government.
Again, we wish a quick and peaceful resolution to this unprovoked aggression. To our Ukrainian friends (as well as Russian and Belarusian protesters), stay safe!

Updates from the discursus project
We’re working on a discursus core roadmap for the upcoming quarter and so far it looks like those are going to be the main goals for the next 2 releases.
In version 0.0.4, we’ll look to improve the process to spin up new instances of discursus core. We want users to easily fork that repo, set up the services and get a running instance easily.
In version 0.0.5, we’ll come up with a semantic layer for discursus. Our definition of a semantic layer is the skeleton of a phenomenon/ domain you want to provide an abstraction for. It has entities and relationships, and those have attributes that change in time. For this version, we want to map out what is going to be the full semantic layer of that project, and have that codified using the help of Droughty.
We’re super excited about that roadmap and hopefully those goals resonate with you as well. If you want to help out, please reach out to me directly.
